4-camera live: why this should be the standard

One camera makes a recording. Four cameras switched live make a broadcast. The difference is larger than you think.

Most podcast studios use one or two cameras mixed after the fact. At H20 we do it live, with four cameras at once.

Live switching versus a later edit

A later edit means an editor scrubbing for hours. With live switching our director does that in real time.

The four positions

  • Wide shot — both guests in frame
  • Close-up guest 1 — reactions and quotes
  • Close-up guest 2 — the same idea
  • Over-the-shoulder — depth and movement

Why it is not yet the default everywhere

It takes investment in kit and in people. At H20 it is included in every package.
